What
it is, is basically an all new Range Rover with its roof cut off.
Clearly there are a lot of impatient people out there who cannot wait
for the Range Rover Evoque Convertible (which we must say could enter production next year).
Newport has taken a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 Range Rover Autobiography and a lot of canvas and an electric folding mechanism to create this open top SUV. While the concept of a rag top SUV may sound very nice, there are a few things you need to take into consideration. For example, the place where you live is a key factor that goes in deciding whether you get a convertible or not. This car, which has Dubai number plates, clearly did not take that into account. Then there is the cost. A 2013 Range Rover costs about INR 1.8 crores before taxes and registration. Watching your 1.8 crore beauty’s roof being cut off is not something for the faint hearted. Newport has not yet released the price they intend to charge for this project. But it should be pretty high given that you’re getting a lot of sky and air in exchange. Newport says that their Range Rover Convertible will be available through selected Land Rover dealerships after August this year. Fancy one? [Source - World Car Fans] |

While Honda and Bajaj are unleashing product after product in a bid to seal the second spot in the Indian two wheeler market, TVS is seemingly content with its fourth position.
After the launch of the TVS Phoenix 125cc motorcycle in December 2012, the company has been inching forward without any new products. However, the months ahead will see an array of new products. Business-standard.com reports that TVS is gearing up to launch 5 new products by the end of December 2015. Speaking about the lack of new products so far, Mr. Venu Srinivasan, chairman and managing director of TVS Motor Company, said - We are doing everything to improve our quality and technology. In the last three years the focus has been on improving the quality keeping BMW and Honda as benchmark. These improvements delayed some of our launches. We all know that TVS is working on a bigger scooter based on the Wego platform. That along with another scooter and a motorcycle will be launched by this fiscal. The refresh for the Star City and the Scooty Pep+, and the successor for the popular Victor could also be in the cards. The upcoming new products would certainly help TVS in improving its market share. [Source: Business-standard.com] |

We have just seen the first photos of the 2014 Honda Jazz (2014 Honda Fit). Now on to a few technical specifications and details.
The Jazz will be available with the following engine options: 1. 1.3-liter petrol with CVT gearbox producing 98bhp and 120Nm of torque 2. 1.5-liter petrol with 6-speed manual 3. 1.5-liter hybrid with 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with 133bhp and 170Nm of torque. 4. Yet to be announced diesel engine for Europe and India [Note: Details of manual transmission on the 1.3-liter, or an India specific 1.2-liter will be known only towards the launch of the car.] The new Jazz has been benchmarked against the VW Polo. Honda’s Senior Ride and Handling Engineer, Terumasa Kotada said - In upping our game, we wanted to make a stronger international competitor, so we benchmarked our Fit on the Polo. The moment you get in the Polo, you notice how low you sit in the car. This instills confidence. And then when you drive the Polo, you notice how low its roll center is and its huge stability levels, instilling even more confidence. To get our desired result, I tested the car extensively on the autobahns in Germany. The Jazz hybrid can do short stints on pure electric mode at speeds up to 40kph. MotorTrend notes that the results are very positive. As for us, we would like to have a go in the new Jazz ourselves! [Source - MotorTrend] |
