This is a car based on their Vision Efficient Dynamics concept, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009, is going to be serially produced. A prototype for this new design was recently unveiled at the Leipzig Trade Fair, although a date for its commercial release has not yet been set.
Early estimates put the car's eventual price tag around $200,000.

This is a hybrid sports car that will hopefully hit the market in 2013 and it is unlike anything else on the market. Having access to 356-horsepower and 4.8 second 0-100 speed has speed freaks sitting up and taking notice that there may actually be a car out there that is both economical and fast.

The prototype of the new Vision Efficient Dynamics electric car has a 2+2 seating design with two wing doors and an aerodynamic design. The electric car has a three-cylinder turbo diesel engine with electric motors at both the front and rear axles. The car can run 31 miles on power from its lithium-polymer battery alone, releasing no emissions, and a diesel tank extends the car's range over 400 miles. The battery can be fully charged from a normal household plug in less than two and a half hours. The electric car looks and performs like a BMW; it can go from 0-100 km (62 mph) in only 4.8 seconds while achieving better gas mileage than a Toyota Prius.
