still race car review

Last may we were introduced to the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S, the top rung of the 991 generation of the Porsche 911 clan.  Now the forced-induction Porsche twins lose their tops.  Set to officially debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Stutgart has given us a sneak preview of the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and Turbo S Cabriolet.
Powered by the same engines as their hard-topped siblings, the 911 Turbo Cabriolet gets a 3.8 liter twin-turbo flat-six producing 520 horsepower while the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet gets an even scootier flat-six good for 560 horses.
2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet 0-60 mph: 3.3 seconds.  2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet 0-60 mph: 3.1 seconds.  Top speed for both is toupĂ©e-unfriendly 195 mph.  By the way, the hardtop turbos run 3.2 seconds and 2.9 seconds, respectively.  And, both Turbo rag-tops are 0.2 seconds faster than the outgoing models.

All this drop-top, open-sky fun doesn't come cheap.  The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Carbiolet starts at $160,700 and the Turbo S Cabriolet will set you back $193,900 (both plus a $950 destination charge).  For more info, check out the press release below.
