SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
There are a lot of ways that you can define the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT. But it can be summed up this way. There used to be a time that it is indeed the ultimate.
|
SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
SSC Ultimate Aero TT Simply known as the
world’s fastest car from 2007 to 2010 (and that is even verified by no
less than Guinness!), it is perhaps one of the boldest automotive
creations ever made.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
Eventually, the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT was
born in 2006. Equipped with a Chevrolet small block engine, together
with a supercharger that generates up to 8 psi of boost, it is known to
produce 1062 horsepower.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT Driving one or more
of those super-wide Michelins over cats-eyes sent loud staccato bangs
and solid thumps directly into the cabin.

At legal speeds the exhaust is quiet enough to allow conversation, but
lifting off the throttle causes an almighty cacophony from the
twin-turbo wastegates.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
SSC Ultimate Aero TT Shelby Super Cars, a brand of car better known for its replicas of exotic cars, is founded by Jerod Shelby.
|
SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
While by no means connected to the legendary Carroll
Shelby, Jerod have somehow managed to create a legend of his own, thanks
to his creation, the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT.

The car in the image above is the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT,
an aerodynamic sports car powered by a 6.3 liter twin turbo V8 with
1,183 horsepower on the tap at 6950 rpm – more than the Bugatti Veyron.
Torque is a gut twisting 1302Nm at 6,150 rpm.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT recently teased us with shots of their new would-be Bugatti assassin, the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT and Shelby Supercars has allowed Top Gear to provide the world a new angle with which to view their exotic road warrior.

In tests earlier this year on a closed section of Nevada highway the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT managed
230mph in the two miles available, but had the originally intended 12
mile site not been hit by snow, then the Veyron could well have been
humbled.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
Prior testing at a NASA facility at Virginia uncovers that the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT
is capable of achieving speeds of more than 250 mph. But of course, it
has to be sent to a track to test if it got what it takes to beat the
Bugatti
SSC Ultimate Aero TT’s speed record.
|
SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
There’s little that’s impressive inside as fit, finish and detailing falls far short of the current supercar norm.
On the plus side the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT is easy enough
to climb in and out of, the leather seats are supportive, it’s
reasonably spacious with ample headroom and the driving position is fine
apart from the front wheel arch intruding into the footwell,

SSC Ultimate Aero TT wants to beat the
Bugatti Veyron’s current top speed record of 407km/h. The car’s
aerodynamic body, which was wind tunnel engineered and tested to be
stable at speeds of up to 439km/h, managed to hit 370km/h in it’s most
recent test.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
Though the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT can deliver salt flat-shrinking speed, the brakes on this particular car are something of a mystery.
|
SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT, has been put
up for sale on eBay. This is the actual vehicle that holds the Guinness
World Record for the World's Fastest Production Car with an official
average top speed of 256.18 mph or 411.93 km/h.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
The
SSC Ultimate Aero TT is designed by
skilled artisan Jason Castriota, who his now putting his pen to paper
for Saab. The design of the front is a beautiful mix of flowing lines
with subtle, hard creases. The rear end seems much more alien, but
equally stunning.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
The previous
SSC Ultimate Aero TT vehicle, the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT, bested the Bugatti Veyron in the all-out speed competition at 256 miles per hour. This all-new
SSC Ultimate Aero TT looks like it already beat that mark while simply posing for pictures.

As you can see, Castriota’s influence is plainly visible in the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT’s
detailing. It’s got an edgier, more assertive appearance than its
predecessor, and we can only assume that it has the power to back up its
menacing new looks.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT |
On the road the
SSC Ultimate Aero TT
grips tenaciously. Its nose goes precisely where you point it, when you
point it, and the steel tube chassis feels suitably rigid and
well-balanced.
